Our son Steven came for the holidays and stayed for a few months. He went back to New York City just a few days ago. We miss him already. Who's going to fix my computer/Sunday dinner? We're really going to miss his killer chicken enchiladas. Nashledenou, Steven. Have fun in New York.

Cowboy Night
Zone Leader Elder Mills (a cowboy from Utah) organized a Cowboy Night for the Prague Branch and all their friends. The Czechs loved the chili and cornbread, and especially liked the roping demonstration. The highlight of the evening was when all the missionaries got together and sang (in English) Home on the Range. It was a very fun and successful evening. The missionaries were able to take visitors on a tour of the building and answer a lot of questions.

Outside of Trencin, Slovakia
We attended branch conferences in Trencin and Zilina, Slovakia. The Monday after the conferences, we stopped in to visit the castle outside of Trencin. From the freeway, it looks as if it's floating in the air.

Bird Tales/Tails
We came across this awesome peacock while traveling home from Slovakia. You need to double-click on these pictures so you can see the magnificence of this bird. Here's what happened: He saw me take a picture of him; and as if on cue, he fanned his tail out and did a perfect 360 in front of me. It was as if he were a trained model, posing for the camera. Of course, I kept taking pictures.
This was taken while he was turning. I couldn't believe he was turning in a very slow circle for me. He must be very proud of his tail feathers. Pretty Majestic, Mr. Peacock.

Ceske Budejovice
We found this cool castle on a weekend trip to the branch conference in Ceske Budejovice. Notice how big the doors are that President Slovacek and Elder Alsop are standing next to.
The wrought iron gates lead to an atrium. I'm standing in the back of the castle. The pictures don't show just how HUGE this thing is, but it is VERY, VERY BIG--massive, even.
It was a very fun weekend. The branch conference went well, and discovering the castle was an added bonus.

Bishop Whitaker comes to visit
Our Bishop from Florida came into town, so we had the opportunity to show him around Prague. It was fun to see a familiar face and hear all the news from home.
