Bratislava, Slovakia is a city of contrasts. This is a section of old town, which is very quaint with cobblestone streets and winding little alleys. I didn't take a picture of the contrast, because it was simply too ugly. We stayed at a hotel on the banks of the Danube River, which was very beautiful. But looking out over the countryside, all we could see for miles and miles were rows and rows of cement communist housing. It made me very angry that the communists could take such a beautiful place and turn it into something so incredibly ugly. I chose to take pictures of only the beautiful.

This is the castle in Bratislava, looking straight up. Marv and I walked up to the top.

There was a cute little band from Germany playing in the town square in Bratislava. It reminded me of Chevy Chase dancing in "European Vacation". The band was not quite up to the standard of the Bloomingdale High School band, but it was fun to sit under an umbrella and listen to them.

This is a sculpture near Old Town in Prague. It's a commentary on how the eradication of communism gave men their freedom--symbolized by the partial man at the top, and becoming more complete toward the bottom. We thought it would be funny to pose Elder Moseley at the bottom of the sculpture as the "complete" man. Notice his outstretched hands, and he's leaning forward. I still laugh when I see this picture! (Elder Moseley is a good sport.)

We have just completed a round of zone conferences, enabling Marv to interview all (90) of our missionaries. They are an impressive group! The trip took us all week as we traveled from Prague to Slovakia and back, but we thoroughly enjoyed the beautiful countryside and the medieval villages. The landscape is much like Washington state--everything is green, with enormous evergreen trees. I feel right at home here.

This was taken at our zone conference in Brno. (That's right,
Brno only has one vowel, and it's at the end of the word. ) We have 5 zones of
missionaries, and they are all outstanding. We love our missionaries!

This is Matthew in the middle of town square in Olomouc, CZ.
Olomouc is one of my favorite cities in the Czech Republic. It's very beautiful!

We were driving in Zilina, Slovakia and saw this dog hanging
out the second story window. It was pretty cool.

This is the path inside the park that takes us to the back side of
the castle.

This is the view from the park that we walk in every morning.
In the distance, you can see the Charles Bridge over the Vltava
River.
